Video of the week 10...

In this week's video, we're revisiting one of my favourite artists of all time - Depeche Mode.

Depeche Mode started in 1980 as a synth rock band hailing from Basildon, England. They have been one of those bands that have been around for so long and have been successful all throughout the New Wave/New Romantic era of music - my personal favourite genre of all.

They have just released an album called "Playing the Angel" and have received rave reviews as well. Current members are Martin Gore, Dave Gahan, and Andrew Fletcher. Former members include Alan Wilder and Vince Clarke, whom, by the way, formed Erasure and Yazoo.

This video is called "Personal Jesus". It may be familiar to Marilyn Manson fans out there. He did a rather impressive remake of this song. I guess this song is very fitting to the world's current climate, if you know what I mean.

Enjoy!

Personal Jesus

Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who’s there

Feeling unknown
And you’re all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I’ll make you a believer

Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
I will deliver
You know I’m a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith
Reach out and touch faith

Your own personal jesus...

Feeling unknown
And you’re all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I’ll make you a believer

I will deliver
You know I’m a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith

Your own personal jesus

Reach out and touch faith

- from the album Violator (1990)
